Find a roommate you’ll actually want to live with.

Mia’s Place is a verified, in-person-first way to find someone to share rent with. No bots. No scams. No algorithm deciding who you meet — you browse, you pick, you decide.

Free to join. Takes about a minute.

Renting with someone shouldn’t be the scariest part.

Somewhere between rising rents and the internet, finding a trustworthy roommate became a second job. Here’s what we’re fixing.

Rent alone is out of reach.

In most US cities, a one-bedroom eats more than half of a typical paycheck. A roommate isn’t a compromise — it’s how renting actually works now.

Every roommate site is a minefield.

Bots. Ghost listings. Scammers asking for a deposit before you’ve even seen the unit. The biggest name in the category was sued by the FTC for false advertising in 2023.

And the stakes are real.

The person on the other side of your couch has your keys, your schedule, and their name next to yours on a lease. That can’t start with a sketchy DM.

How it works

Three steps. That’s it.

1

Create your profile.

Tell us what you’re looking for — neighborhoods, budget, move date, how many roommates. About a minute. Free.

2

Verify your identity.

$1.50, charged by Stripe, one time. This single step is what makes every other person on Mia’s Place an actual, verified human.

3

Browse and connect.

Search verified members. Send a message. Meet up in person — digitally, at a coffee shop, or at one of our monthly events. You decide.

Built different on purpose.

We looked at every roommate-matching service in the market. Then we built the opposite of what was broken.

Most roommate sites
  • Overrun by bots and ghost profiles
  • Hidden subscription charges and surprise fees
  • Demographic filters that shade toward discrimination
  • Digital-only, hope the person on the other end is real
  • An algorithm decides who you see
Mia’s Place
  • Every member ID-verified through Stripe
  • Pass-through pricing — the $1.50 ID check is what Stripe charges us
  • Fair Housing-safe by design — zero protected-class filters, ever
  • Optional in-person events where you meet before anyone signs anything
  • You browse. You choose. We just make it easier to find them.

Coming soon to Philly

Meet people in real life. Imagine that.

On the first Friday of every month, Mia’s Place hosts an in-person meetup at a partner venue in Philadelphia. No swipes, no profiles-only mode — just real conversation with about twenty other renters who are also looking. A host from the local brokerage is there if you want to ask rental-process questions. Drinks are usually involved.

It turns out meeting someone before you sign a lease with them is a pretty good idea.

What to expect
  • ID check at the door — same standard as online
  • A local brokerage host on-site for rental questions
  • Optional post-event directory so you can follow up
  • No pressure, no pitch, no “our algorithm says”

Built for how people actually live.

Trust isn’t a feature. It’s the whole product.

ID-verified members

Every profile goes through Stripe Identity. No fake names, no stolen photos, no long-cons.

Fair Housing-safe

We don’t ask — and don’t let anyone filter on — race, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, or disability. Not now, not ever.

You’re in control

You browse. You message. You decide who you meet. We don’t pick for you, and we don’t suggest who you’d ‘match with.’

Questions people actually ask.

What does it cost?+

Joining and creating a profile is free. Identity verification is $1.50, one time, charged by Stripe (we don’t mark it up). Optional add-ons like a Certified Renter background check run $39, one time, and are up to you.

Where do you operate?+

Philadelphia is our pilot market. If you sign up from outside Philly, we’ll put you on a waitlist and let you know as soon as we open in your city.

What if I don’t want to verify my ID?+

You can create a profile and browse verified members without verifying. You just can’t send a request or chat until you do — so everyone you interact with is a real person, and so are you.

Who’s behind Mia’s Place?+

We’re TCS Group, a rental-focused company that’s been placing renters in Philadelphia for years. We built Mia’s Place because we kept watching great apartments fall through because one person couldn’t swing rent alone.
